What Have You Been Up To?
I can honestly admit that the death of my Georgia mama took me by surprise. I still think about saying my final goodbye to the shell that once held a spirit that shone brighter than the sun. But I know she still lives on within me and in the lives of everyone she loved and cherished. I will always miss her, but I am grateful that she is finally at peace.
Even though the tears come and go, I knew I had to get back to work. I have been busy being a mother and a wife, and life has taken me on a whirlwind over the past three months. Even in my darkest moments, I still find joy in caring for my family. So I decided it was time to return to my other family—my readers.
Outside of living life, I’ve been watching what’s happening around me. I’ve seen people being criticized for their decisions about vaccination. I’ve also seen frustration toward the president for not fulfilling campaign promises. Honestly, I don’t fully agree with either extreme.
When it comes to vaccination, people will make their own decisions. Some will choose to get vaccinated, and others won’t. It’s a personal choice. At some point, this pandemic will come to an end—hopefully sooner rather than later.
As for the president, I believe patience is necessary. Many people don’t realize that a president cannot act alone. The House and Senate must support and approve decisions. Promises can be made, but they require cooperation to become reality. That’s part of the system that prevents absolute control.
My mind has been processing all of this.
Since I’m vaccinated, I feel more at ease, though I still follow the safety measures I’ve put in place for my household. I can move a little more freely now without overwhelming anxiety.
With everything I’ve experienced and observed, one thing stands out:
Life is unpredictable.
There is no clear roadmap.
No perfect guide.
No matter how much advice we receive or how many books we read, we are all navigating life in our own way. We are individuals—with our own thoughts, feelings, and perspectives.
We have to learn to embrace that.
Things won’t always go as planned.
But if we remain patient, something good can come from it.
We just have to allow patience to do its work.
